Following the “Strada Borromeo” uphill, you eventually reach the summit of the Mottarone mountain, 1,491 meters high. From there you can enjoy breath-taking views over centuries-old woods. You can also take in view of the Maritime Alps, the Monte Rosa massif, the impressive Swiss peaks, the Po Valley and the seven lakes: Maggiore, d’Orta, Mergozzo, Varese, Comabbio, Monate, Biandronno. The mountain can be visited all year-round by nature lovers: there are countless paths and trails to be explored on foot, by bicycle or on horseback, which can suit all tastes, ages and levels of training. Mottarone is the ideal place for a day trip in the open air, and for a taste of the typical mountain gastronomy of the area you can visit. In winter the mountain becomes an important ski centre, with its 15 km of equipped pistes and a rental point.
